SACRED MOUNTAIN RETREAT CENTER

By
Charles Mix County Vso Jerry Seiner

Those who live or have lived a life in the service of others wear the scars of their chosen professions. Veterans, Law Enforcement officers, Fire Fighters, EMS personnel…those who have served a higher calling to protect, defend and safeguard the lives of others bear a burden that those who have never done the job rarely understand. Alongside these professionals are the Gold Star families who have also paid the price for the higher calling of their loved ones.

This is an opportunity to help yourself, a Brother/Sister, a family member or friend. The Sacred Mountain Retreat Center (SMRC) offers an amazing program designed for and around the veteran and first responder communities as well as Gold Star families. It is a “No Cost” program where the transportation, food and lodging costs are all covered by the charitable donations of others.

The Sacred Mountain Retreat Center is located in the Black Hills, just outside of Deadwood, SD. Nestled on a 65-acre property, the retreat itself is an all-inclusive 10,000sq/ft lodge with rooms for 8 residents and their retreat staff, all with private bathrooms. The lodge also features a large stone hearth in the Grand Room, a game room, large dining room and a full industrial kitchen. There is also a full size gym to include 2 full size Hotworx saunas. This place is a tranquil mountain retreat built for the sole purpose of healing our Veterans and First Responders.

Secret Mountain Retreat Center brings our Nations Heroes together for a 10-person, 7-day program that focuses on Complex Post Traumatic Stress, Hyper-Stress, Anxiety and Depression. SMRC is there to help process the demons and quiet the chaos. They use peer-to-peer counseling and support coupled with teamwork and fellowship to create a safe place to drop ones armor and let their guard down. Strangers become friends and those friends become a family. Together they save lives, save relationships and save careers.
