ROTARY NEWS

Wagner Rotary Club was presided over by Becky Brunsing in the absence of President Bryan Slaba. August is the last month of our first quarter. Curt Kaberna was the guest of Rotarian Ken Cotton. Colby Kirwan was the guest of Becky Brunsing and was also the program for the day.

Rotarian Laurie Kidd offered up a prayer of thanksgiving for the day, our Rotary fellowship, and guidance for serving our Wagner Community. Laurie then went to the piano with a challenge for all of us to do a better job of singing than we did last week. She had heard that we did a poor job of singing without her piano skills. The membership belted out In the Good Ole Summertime and sang Be a Friend.

The Membership Minute given by Rotarian Cotton was on Standard Club Constitution. Rotary International is the most territorial organization in the world. It exits in 151 countries and cuts across dozens of languages, political and social structures, customs, religions, and traditions. How is it that more than 27,000 Rotary clubs of the world operate in almost identical style? The primary answer is the Standard Rotary Club Constitution.

One of the conditions to receive a charter to become a Rotary club is to accept the Standard Club Constitution, originally adopted in 1922. The Standard Club Constitution outlines administrative techniques for clubs to follow in holding weekly meetings, procedures for membership and classifications, conditions of attendance and payment of dues and other policies relating to public issues and political positions.

This constitutional document provides the framework for all Rotary clubs in the world. This Standard Club Constitution must be considered one of the great strengths of Rotary to enable the organization to operate in so many thousands of communities.

Gerrit Juffer was lucky enough to have a chance at drawing the Queen of Hearts but instead he drew the five of Diamonds. There are only about five cards left to draw from.

Secretary/Treasurer Craig Krsnak announced that with today’s collection the Queen of Hearts drawing is up to $876.50. The Brunsing Team for attendance had one miss and so did the Woods Team. Presently Brunsing has three misses and Woods has four. Krsnak also warned members that he would be passing out quarterly dues at the next meeting.

Linda Soukup, Amanda Bechen, Bill Herrmann, and Bill Frei offered to help serve the meal at the annual Cancer Walk this coming Saturday. The trailer is full of aluminum cans and Bill Frei and Bill Herrmann offered to get the load to Mitchell.

Becky Brunsing introduced her program which was Colby Kirwan from Kirwan Design and Landscaping, LLC located here in Wagner along Highway 46. It is in the former Bouza Construction location. Colby began by introducing himself. He graduated from Gregory High School in 2006 and then attended Southeast Vo Tech for the landscaping program. Col by specializes in landscape design, lawn applications, sprinkler systems and a little bit of everything involving the yard and lawn. His wife, Halie graduated from college in 2017 and eventually they moved to the Wagner area. They have two children. His wife taught here in the WCS and is now the music teacher in Platte.

Colby had a power point presentation of a big project that he worked on last year south of Platte. This was a noticeably big project and required a great deal of work in various stages as it was a complete replacement of an existing patio and pergola. He explained the different steps involved in a project such as this from beginning to end. This one required some plumbing and electrical work which he hires out. It was a beautiful project when finished. You can view the project yourself by going to Kirwan Landscaping on Facebook. Here are the links for this project: https://www. kirwandesignllc.com/ or go to You Tube and do a search for Kirwan Design and Landscaping, LLC

This project has been approved to be photographed for the Beograd National Catalogue.
