President Jamie Soukup gave a warm welcome to the Wagner Rotarians and three visiting Seniors from the Wagner Community School. The Rotary Grace was spoken, and Assistant Song leader Jeff Doom guided the membership in singing “Smile.”

WCS Seniors Casey Van Duysen was first in line to talk to the membership about himself. His parents are Jackie and Jason Van Duysen. Casey plans to attend Southeast Technical Institute and become a plumber. Matthew Kokes, son of Jay and Lori Kokes, would like to attend South Dakota State University to study Premed; and Senior Rowdy Meyer is also planning to attend Southeast Technical to study Diesel Mechanics. His parents are Stephanie Hoeke and Cody Meyer. They were given a round of applause as those are occupations always in demand even in our Wagner Community.

Sergeant at Arms Gerrit Juffer levied the following fines: $2 to Rachel Doom for purchasing a new deck of cards for the Queen of Hearts drawing; $1 to our Rotarian “ deer hunters” Jamie Soukup, Jerry Weber, Deb Houseman as they were discussing their deer hunting over the weekend; $1 to Tim Thaler and $2 to Jordan Weber for making a fair trade; $2 to Amanda Bechen for leaving a cooler lid, a flannel sheet and a dead possum on the road and the Sgt. At Arms wound up picking it up on his morning walk and disposing of it; $1 to Linda Soukup, Jamie Soukup, Jerry and Kathe Henke, Amanda, Alison Jeannie, Gordan, Tim, for still having some Christmas decor up as well as some Thanksgiving decor (the seasons are beginning to run into each other) $2 to Jerry Weber for waving money at the Sergeant at Arms; $2 to Jeff Doom for not using the song book as we have several new members who don’t know the songs’ and another $2 to Jeff for wearing a hat to the meeting and having an employee present with a Wagner Building Supply T shirt on.

$25.00 in Happy money came from Jerry Henke who is proud of his grandniece; $2 from Jeff for a successful pheasant hunt; $2 from Jerry Weber for Amanda Bechen having his neighbor Duane Winckler for a thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings; $2 from Alison Woods for Gerrits Turducken; (how many people know what a “turducken is”) and $2 Happy fine from Linda Soukup if they would all please eat the two desserts she brought. $2 in happiness came from Jordan Weber whose favorite Chicago Bears are now #1 in their division.

Secretary/Treasurer Craig Krsnak announced that the Alison Woods attendance Team had three misses for the day and the Joshua Christensen team had two misses. This leaves the Woods team with nine total misses and the Christensen team with fifteen misses. The Queen of Hearts drawing was not won this week but is starting over with a balance of $29.00.

Football book winners came from Book #30. And the winners were Tami Hanson sold by Amanda Bechen and Rose Eitemiller sold by Becky Brunsing.

The program was given by Rotarian Linda Soukup who is still scanning all the photos from the Charles Mix County Historical Society Museum. For this program she showed farming pictures. Farm Homes and homesteads, Charles Ahrens, and Kreeger threshing crews, farm machinery back in the early 1900’s and when horses were used for threshing grains, hay, and harvesting. There are pictures of J.H. Crisman farm, a Dvorak farm, Von Collins etc. Also shown were a picture of the oil drilling that went on south of Wagner, and a picture of a young Wagner High School student funeral at the ZCBJ Hall in 1919.

If you are reading this article and are interested in seeing these pictures they are being posted on Facebook under the title of Charles Mix County Historical Society Museum. Soukup plans to help preserve the old pictures by putting them on acid free scrapbook paper and enclosing them in acid free holders in photo albums for viewing. These pictures need to be preserved. There are many groups yet to be viewed for her programs such as old pictures of: Men, business and personal ones, Women, Early families, organizational pictures, churches, student alumni, and teachers, off Main businesses, Dante, Greenwood, Marty etc. If you have an account on Facebook, you only need to put the CMCHS Museum in your search bar and the pictures are being posted there.

The meeting was adjourned with the recitation of our Rotary Four-Way Test: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL
