There was almost a full house at the Rotary Building on Wednesday, July 30, for the last July meeting. Guests present were Roberta Haar Duke and her two sons William and Sydney Duke from the Netherlands. Roberta is the daughter of Sharon and the late Harris Haar and has lived in the Netherlands for many years now. She always comes back to her roots for a visit, and we were happy to have them in attendance. They were guests of Rotarian Becky Brunsing. Rotarian Bryan Slaba brought the new WCMH CFO Joshua Christensen as a guest also. Judene Ervine was present in lieu of Rotarian Amanda Bechen who was out on business matters.
Rotarian/Song leader Rachel Woods got back into the singing mode by announcing that we would sing “Singing in the Rain” which was a logical pick given we have had two nights in a row of severe weather of wind and rain. We were very out of tune and did not show up well in front of all the guests present! The July birthdays of Bill Frei and Jerry Weber were observed with the singing of Happy Birthday which we can sing very well!
Membership Minute Chair Patty Frei reminded everyone that August is Membership Month for Rotary, but gaining in membership is a year-round commitment to growth and connection. Membership isn’t just about numbers’ it’s about opening doors, inviting more people who are ready to give their time, talents, and hearts to a cause greater than themselves. We welcome new members; they bring in fresh ideas and new energy. We expand our impact, strengthen our clubs, and ensure that Rotary continues to evolve with the world around us.
Every member plays a part in this journey. No one owns a Rotary club. It is a gift we pass on to the next generation. When we invite others to share in it, we ensure that Rotary continues to be a force for good.
The Sergeant asked the sons of Roberta to tell something about their mother that people didn’t know. The club found out that she used to stay after school and tidy up the classroom earning her the title of “teacher’s pet.”
Patty Frei’s guest held the winning ticket number, but she only a three Spades. The total amount of winnings is now up to $516.00. Secretary/ Treasurer Craig Krsnak reported that Jordan Weber’s attendance team has seven misses and Jerry Weber’s team has nine misses.
Rotarian Patty introduced her program which was Whitney Weber. Whitney recently moved here and is no stranger to the Wagner area. Her parents are Jason and Janelle Weber, and her grandparents are Dean and Karen Weber and Ken and Vicki Swatek. Whitney has always had a passion for fitness and exercise. The opportunity came up to purchase a building in Wagner where Dr. Dave Isebrands used to practice dentistry. Whitney has spent time remodeling the facility the way she wanted it and recently opened it to the public. Her business is called Power Flo and Fitness. She has a website where you can get more detailed information on times and schedules. Her full-time job is working at home in marketing. Whitney will be getting married this coming November to Chris Kuca, another Wagnerite who is a teacher at the Wagner Community School.
Whitney offers two classes, morning and evening, six days a week, Monday through Friday, and two Saturday sessions at 8 and 10 AM. She has designed her own programs that are age appropriate, and she supplies mats, free weights, resistance bands, and dumb bells for the workouts. She can accommodate fifteen people at a time. Most of her clientele are in their lower thirties to age fifty. She also has clients that are sixteen and under. You can get three free classes and then decide to book online or in person at your convenience. There are different rates per visit, or you may use a personal card. She emphasized that this workout is “to get strong—not skinny”! It is not a weight loss program.
The club adjourned in their usual fashion by reciting the Four-Way Test of the things we think, say, or do. Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
