July 3, 2025, marked the beginning of the Wagner Rotary Clubs new business year. The first order of business was for Past President Jordan Weber to swear in Jamie Soukup as the President for our fiscal year of 2025-2026. After a round of welcome to the new President he asked the membership to give the Rotary Grace.

The new song leader for our new year is Rotarian Rachel Doom who announced our first song would be “Clementine.” Next on the agenda was our Membership Minute from Rotarian Patty Frei. Rotary was founded on principles that remain at the heart of the organization today. These principles ref lect our core values of integrity, diversity, service, leadership, and fellowship or friendship. These core values emerge as themes in our guiding principles. From the beginning, members have emphasized the importance of acting responsibly and ethically and using our professions as an opportunity to serve.

Our Four-Way Test has long served as an ethical guide for members to live by in their personal and professional lives. (See our Four-Way Test at the end of this article.) It is every Rotarians responsibility to use this guide of the test to live by in their personal and professional lives.

The “Lucky Table” struck again! There were only twenty- four cards left, and Kathe Henke pulled the seven of spades and lost $461.00 Sorry, Kathe! Rachel Woods was given a box of fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July as part of the Sergeant at Arms little drawing that was searching for the owner of the cap (Jeff Doom) and having the ticket to win the gift.

Secretary/Treasurer Craig Krsnak announced that the new team leaders for the first quarter of our business year will be a father and son pitted against each other: Jordan Weber and Jerry Weber. They each had only one absence for this first meeting.

We never have a full schedule for our first organizational meeting. The rest of our business was going over the Rotary Program and Meal Chairperson for the next year; acquainting ourselves with the new officers on the Board: President Jamie Soukup; President Elect; Jeff Doom; Directors Patty Frei and Tim Thaler; Past President Jordan Weber; Sergeant at Arms Gerrit Juffer; Assistant Sergeant at Arms Bill Frei; and Secretary’/Treasurer Craig Krsnak.

Members for each attendance team had already been assigned to Jordan and Jerry’s teams, so we moved on to the Rotary Committees. Each week there is a program and meal chairperson. The chairperson is responsible for picking up the meals at three separate locations in Wagner that rotate on a weekly basis. At the end of every quarter the losing attendance team must buy their team and the winning team the meal, so attention is paid to those who don’t make up for their absence at a weekly meeting.

There are seventeen committees with various titles and members. Our Wagner Rotary Club presently has nineteen members. We plan to work on another list that has a full page of possible members for Rotary! We adjourned in our usual fashion by reciting the Four-Way Test of the things we think, say, or do: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
