Wagner Rotarians were greeted at the entryway to the meeting room with the Choteau Creek Brewing Company serving them a delicious meal of three different salads, chicken and pulled pork and two cheesecakes! We were not disappointed! It was a delicious meal!
President Jordan Weber led us in a prayer of thanks for the food, fellowship, and the coming Holy Week. Song leader Gerrit Juffer led us in singing two verses of “Roll Rotary”!
Membership Minute Chairwoman Patty Frei reminded the membership that World Immunization Week 2025 is coming up on 24-30 of April. This is a critical time to raise awareness about the importance of immunization and the safety and effectiveness of vaccines. Why do Rotarians believe so strongly in this? Rotary made a promise to the children of the world with the launch of the PolioPlus program in 1985 that we would eradicate polio from the world. Thanks to vaccines and the incredible support of Rotary members, polio cases have been reduced by 99.9%!
We need to remain vigilant so that we don’t lose the progress we’ve made. No child should suffer from diseases like polio that a vaccine can prevent. Polio eradication is Rotary’s top humanitarian project, and we need your help to educate your communities about the benefits of vaccination and tell the story of Rotary’s efforts. Let’s keep Rotary’s promise of a polio-free world!!!
Just a note of interest for the public! Are you aware that groups no longer clean the ditches in South Dakota? Apparently, organizations have dropped to an all-time low for this worthy cause. The Wagner Rotarians met last Thursday evening with bags, side by sides, and gloves to clean the ditches going east of Wagner on Highway 46. The club has been doing this for several years.
Rotarian Patty Frei was the lucky ticket number holder again and came close again with the four of Hearts. She lost out on $315.00.
The Secretary-Treasurer Craig Krsnak has kept the attendance at the last three meetings in anticipation of the new attendance teams. The new Captains are Jerry and Kathe Henke. They tried a new method of picking members. Instead of drawing the names out of a hat they took turns choosing members out loud, like the old ball games in grade school! Since ladies always go first Kathe Henke chose Bill Frei and Patty Frei, Linda Soukup, Rachel Woods, Amanda Bechen, Margaret Doom, Becky Brunsing, and Jeannie Crowe. Jerry Henke chose Bryan Slaba, Ken Cotton, Tim Thaler, Craig Krsnak, Jerry Weber, Jamie Soukup, Jeff Doom, and Gerrit Jufffer. That made nine members on each team; and yes, Kathe chose all the women and Jerry chose all the men except for Bill Frei. It will be interesting to see who wins the next race!
We adjourned in our usual fashion by reciting The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say, or do. Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? They had a grand old time that evening which resulted in the Sergeant at Arms levying the following fines: $2 to Bryan Slaba for his comments about “cognitive testing”; $2 to Jeff Doom and $3 to Gerrit Juffer for going in the wrong direction after the cleaning was finished; $2 to Patty Frei who was seen jaywalking on Main Street last Wednesday; $2 to Tim Thaler who has been just “too quiet” lately; $2 to Margaret Doom for waking up at Noon???; $2 to Jamie Soukup for being absent today and planting soybeans; $2 to Amanda Bechen who complained about her Rotary bill and spent the last two months giving out bills to her clients for tax preparation; $2 to Jeff Doom for having a “sweet tooth” like his Dad; $2 to Linda Soukup for putting Becky Soukup in last week’s fines instead of Becky Brunsing.
