President Becky Brunsing called the Wagner Rotary Club to order on Wednesday, June 5th at the Rotary Building on Main Street Wagner. Brunsing read a prayer from Rotary guidelines that gave thanks for our club and the opportunities and challenges it meets each day Song leader Gerrit Juffer led the membership in singing one verse of America the Beautiful!
Membership Minute Chairperson Ken Cotton reminded everyone of the Rotary International Offices that are headquartered in a building called One Rotary Center located in Evanson, Illinois. One Rotary Center hosts more than two thousand members and guests each year. Free guided tours are offered in several languages Monday through Friday.
Rotarían Jamie Soukup took his position at the podium after a long absence due to the nature of his business. Farming is a big industry in Wagner and Jamie spends a large part of Spring delivering seed and services to the farming community.
Soukup levied the following fines: $4 to himself for four missed Rotary meetings; $2 to Scott McAdargh for coming in and ignoring the other two tables; $2 to Becky Brunsing for a phone infraction; $4 total to Jeff Doom for two phone infractions, and for calling himself a construction worker and truck driver; $1 to Gerrit Juffer for his displeasure with his “chicken dinner”. Happy Fines came from Becky Brunsing, $1 for loving Amanda’s necklace; $1 from Jeff Doom for needing a haircut; and $8 from Linda Soukup for the eightieth Anniversary of D Day.
Rotarian Jamie was happy to collect monies for the Queen of Heart drawing once again and just happened to have the lucky number to have a chance at winning $85. He drew a two of Clubs.
President Brunsing gave the attendance report in Craig Krsnak’s absence. The Juffer Team hadfour misses today for a total of thirteen and the Frei Team had two misses for a total of thirteen.
Brunsing read a Thank You note from Shona Kocer for receiving a Rotary Scholarship. She reminded members that if they wished to donate to Rotarian Kerner’s fund for the program she gave recently that they could get a check to Kr snak within the next two weeks. Brunsing then awarded Rotarian Jerry Henke his fourth Paul Harris Fellowship pin. The is quite an accomplishment and the club gave Jerry a round of applause. Seethe pictures that have been submitted with this article. The Henke’s were on a two-week vacation back to North Carolina and Florida and made up their two missed Rotary meetings.
Brunsing finished out the rest of the meeting with miscellaneous details of the coming three weeks that will finish out her term as President. Jordan Weber will assume the President’s chair on July 3 to serve his first term as Wagner Rotary President. The committee for Citizen of the Year was directed to have a meeting and report back to the membership. That committee consists of Amanda Bechen, Kathe Henke, and Scott McAdaragh. Brunsing also mentioned that there will be a revision to the By Laws of the Wagner Rotary Club after examining the current bylaws which date back to 1985. A membership drive will be conducted after Jordan takes office.
Rotarian Gerrit Juffer reminded members that Dana Sanderson is looking for volunteers to help with the 605 Unity Jam at Wagner Lake this coming Sunday, June 9th.
