The May 8th Wagner Rotary meeting was once again led by President Elect Jordan Weber. Pastor/Rotarian Bill Heermann gave thanks for our day and our meal and asked for guidance for all Rotarians in the Wagner Community.
There were no guests present but there were four absences. Assistant Song leader Jeff Doom led us in singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” Membership Minute Chairperson Ken Cotton spoke about Club Leadership and Membership. The key to getting the most out of your Rotary or Rotaract membership is to get involved in ways that suit your interests. The time and energy you invest will yield rich rewards. You can shape your club by talking with club leaders about your ideas, and as a member, you are eligible to be a club leader. Over time, active members find that the connections they make through Rotary and Rotaract become lifelong friendships.
Assistant Sergeant at Arms Amanda Bechen asked for Happy Fines first: Patty Frei volunteered $4 for her children and their spouses for graduating; $5 came from Kathe Henke for her granddaughter’s graduation, $5 came from Linda Soukup for her granddaughter’s graduation from Veterinarian School. Pastor Bill was fined $3 for having three funerals in a week’s time; Jeff Doom was fined for the road construction that is creeping closer and closer to his retaining walls and yard west of town; $2 to Jerry Weber whose planned program was unable to make it.
The Queen of Hearts ticket belonged to Craig Krsnak who had to leave for an appointment, so Joe Stedronsky was designated to draw a card from the deck for Craig. He found only the Two of Diamonds, which was worth $32.00. We are at the beginning of a new deck so it will take time to create some excitement about winning the Queen. President Elect Jordan announced that the Juffer Attendance Team had eight misses and the Bill Frei Team had six misses for totals.
Rotarian Jerry Weber’s program was unable to make it at the last moment. He had planned to have the Fish, Game and Parks give a talk, but the individual had sick kids at home. The program will come in the future. Get Well soon!
Rotarian Amanda Bechen announced that the Scholarship Committee had met last week, and we had enough funds to award three scholarships this year. The Wagner Community School graduation ceremony will be held this coming Saturday, May 11th and the three winners from the Wagner Rotary will be announced at the ceremony. The Club had seven applications and the winners were Riley Roberts, Macy Koupal, and Shona Kocer.
Instead of a formal program, President Elect Jordan Weber talked about some things that he would like to see in the future when he becomes president for the Rotary 2024-2025 year. He mentioned that the Winner Rotary Club had a great project for years about planting trees city wide. Discussion ensued about several possibilities for the club to work on in the future.
We adjourned with the club reciting the Rotary Four-Way Test: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
