There were big snowflakes falling slowly to the ground Wednesday, January 10th, when the Wagner Rotary Club gathered for its weekly meeting. It could have been described as pretty if we hadn’t just gone through a two-day period of snow and high winds over the weekend. President Becky Brunsing gave what she described as “a small ring a ding” on the Rotary Bell to bring the members to order. We were short of five members due to the weather and other commitments.

Pastor/Rotarian Bill Heermann gave thanks for the food and asked for help in guiding our club members through the Wagner Community in this season of snow and very wintry weather.

Song leader Gerrit Juffer led the group in singing “Roll Rotary.” If anyone would be interested in being the piano player for our Rotary Club please contact me, President Brunsing, or any Rotarian that you know.

Membership Minute Chairperson Ken Cotton talked about our Rotary International Offices that are in Evanston Illinois. Club and District Support representatives provide regionalized expertise to the clubs and districts they work with and guidance on Rotary’s policies, procedures, resources, and tools. They often attend club and district meetings to meet with and train local Rotary leaders.

One Rotary Center hosts more than 2,000 members and guests each from all over the world. Free guided tours are offered in several languages.

Rotarian Amanda Bechen offered to serve as Sergeant at Arms as the Sergeant and even his assistant was missing. She levied the following fines: $2 to Bryan Slaba for having more than one brownie for dessert; $2 to Jamie Soukup who was missing from the meeting but enjoying Prime Rib for lunch somewhere; $2 to Ken Cotton for his “average birthday age” $2 to Joe Stedronsky for looking so good giving his predictions last week from the 2023 session. Jordan Weber was the only Happy person and he donated $10.00 for SDSU winning a backto- back football championship.

The Queen of Hearts found Bill Frei searching for the winning card, but he drew a Jack of Spades and missed $366.00. Secretary/Treasurer Craig Krsnak announced that the third quarter attendance race was starting out with six misses for the Juffer Team and only one miss for the Frei Team. The last quarter ended in a tie. President Brunsing made the executive decision that each Rotarian should pay for their own steak next week which is our Steak Meeting.

Rotarian Bryan Slaba used his phone to record the 2024 Predictions by each Rotarian. These predictions will be played in January of 2025.

We ended in our usual fashion by reciting our Four Way Test: Of the things we think, say, or do. Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL & Better Friendships? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
