On Wednesday, Mary 18th, Fillin President Rachel Woods rang the bell to bring the meeting to order. Guests were introduced, including Wanda Weber, guest pianist, and Dana Sanderson, guest of Ken Cotton. Ken Cotton led the group in prayer.

Wanda led the group in song. This week, - "Clementine" and "Smile" were the songs of choice.

Ken Cotton gave the Rotary Minute, discussing the youth exchange program, which allows high school students to travel abroad to stay with "host" families so that they may learn the language, customs, and traditions of the country they are staying in. Most exchanges are for the entire school term, though there are shorter exchange programs as well. The program started in 1927 in Copenhagen, Denmark, followed by Nice, France in 1929. It continued in Europe until WW2, then resumed again in 1946. California and Latin America began the exchange program in 1939, and from there the activities spread across the US. In 1972, the Rotary International Board of directors officially made the youth exchange program a program of Rotary International. In 2009/2010, 8700 students and families participated in this program.

In other business, the message center sign for the Rotary Shelter has been ordered and will arrive in 8-12 weeks. The club will also be working on some landscaping at the shelter, and another grant has been submitted to help with these costs.

Dana Sanderson took a few moments to talk to the club about the upcoming 605 Unity Jam, which will take place on Sunday, June 12th. The event takes 72 people to put on, and is a way to bring our many local cultures together. There will be a church service in the morning, as well as vendors, music, a kolache eating contest, youth fishing clinic and tournament, inflatables and carnival games, cultural demonstrations, and a cardboard boat racing contest. If anyone would like to volunteer their time to help, please contact Dana.
