The Wagner Rotary Club met on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 for its regular weekly meeting.

President Bryan Slaba welcomed everyone.

Four WCS seniors were present: Lizzie Woods, Jillian Beeson, Cassidy Wilson, and Sheridan Smejkal

Rotarian Pastor Laurie Kidd offered up thanks for the sunshine as well as shelter for those in need.

Rotarian Kidd then led us in song.

Rotarian Cotton presented the Rotary minutes which was a summarization of “What is Rotary”.

Rotarian Jerry Weber, Sergeant at Arms levied the following fines:

$2.00 for all USD Graduates for the USD losses to SDSU in both men’s and women’s basketball. In the same spirit of things Rotarian Weber self-imposed a $10 happy fine for his SDSU teams winning their games, over USD, by 10 points each.

$2.00 for Rotarian Patti Frei for her use of a parade wave as she entered the club.

$2.00 for Rotarian Jamie Soukup for sniffing out the donuts Rotarian Jerry Weber brought to the business across the street. Man does he have a great sense of smell!!!

$2.00 for Rotarians Jerry and Kathe’ Henke for not being fined for a while, so no good deed goes unpunished.

$2.00 for Rotarian Slaba for interrupting the Sargent at Arms presentation.

$2.00 for Rotarian Doom, just because he (Sargent at Arms) can.

$2.00 for Rotarian Bechen for promoting gambling to a student by offering to purchase a Queen of Hearts drawing ticket.

$2.00 for Rotarian McAdaragh for no Saran wrap in the kitchen, how else is the Sargent at Arms to seal up a desert or two to take home!

$10.00 happy fine for Rotarian Krsnak as his daughter had accepted a job.

$5.00 happy fine for Rotarian Woods as she found out Rotarian Jamie Soukup was older than her.

$2.00 happy fine for Rotarian Krsnak as he didn’t realize he had dressed like a Christmas tree ornament, all red and green. I have to admit, he should have turned on the lights in order to get dressed. Rotarian Cotton’s ticket was drawn for the Queen of Heart, he drew the eight of spades.

Treasurer/Secretary Craig Krsnak reviewed attendance the quarter to date is nine misses for the Woods team and FIFTEEN (YIKES) misses for the Brunsing team. The Queen of Hearts grew to $338.

President Slaba then had the four WCS seniors give a brief description of themselves to include:

Who are your parents?

What classes and activities are you involved in?

What are you plans post high school?

President Slaba then turned the meeting over to the Program Chair Rotarian Cara Frei, who started by reading an Executive Proclamation from Governor Noem for National School Counseling Week elevating all the great work that school counselor’s due throughout the state of South Dakota. Rotarian Frei the introduced Jen Lhotak, WCS’s Senior High Counselor. Ms. Lhotak informed the group on the Build Dakota Scholarship program for the four technical colleges in South Dakota
