RESURRECTION SUNDAY
Pastor/Founder of the Grace Baptist Church, Lake Andes since 1988
MATTHEW 12: 39,40 39) 'But he answered and said unto them, an evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign: and there shall be no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.
40) For Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belley; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.'(KJV) Mark 16: 4,5,6, 4) 'And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.
5) and entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.
6) And he saith unto them, be not affrighted; Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen, he is not here: behold the place where they laid him'.(KJV) We celebrated this day to realize that Jesus, who told them He was the Son of God--proved it on this day that He not only could forgive sins, but He was able --under His own Power-to raise up out of the grave after three full days and three full nights--buried after He was crucified.
No man before Him and no man since Him ever raised up himself alive from a grave.
Jesus showed up alive to Mary Magdalene just outside the empty tomb.
Jesus met two men on the roadside and walked with them--then they realized that it was Him.
Jesus that night showed up to His disciples in an upper room that was boarded shut and a week later showed up again to his disciples in that upper room--and ate and drank with them. proving it was He.
After 40 days He showed Himself alive, being seen of many witnesses--when they saw Him alive and rise back up into heaven. We believe all that He did and that He promises to return again for His believers.
This is why we celebrate and worship Him on resurrection Sunday. It is the most blessed day of the year for believers.
