Rep. Drew Peterson officially announced his bid for reelection for District 19 House of Representatives. Drew is a diversified ag producer - one of only 13 in our state legislature and has served in the House of Representatives since 2022. As a strong advocate for rural communities and our state’s number one industry, Drew works closely with many of the state’s leading ag organizations, including South Dakota Corn, South Dakota Farm Bureau, South Dakota Soybean, South Dakota Ethanol, and the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association. In his first term, Drew fought hard for voters of District 19 and all of South Dakota, with achievements to show for it. Some of the most notable accomplishments include: • Passing South Dakota’s largest tax cut, while make sure that tax burdens were not shifted to property taxpayers. • Passing laws to expand housing opportunities, workforce development, and childcare access in our rural communities. • Helping close a loophole to ensure farmers get paid for the grain they sell. • Working to expand E15 fuel access use in our state, reducing fuel costs for all South Dakotans. • Serving as one of three key sponsors of the historic Landowner Bill of Rights - passing 15 new South Dakota landowner protections, the nation’s strongest, into law. • Supporting increased funding for teachers and local control for our small schools (to improve our children’s education outcomes). • Collaborating with leading ag groups to find consensus and compromise to move our industry & state forward. • Serving on the House Transportation, Agriculture & Natural Resources, and Government Operations & Audit Committees. “It has been an honor to represent District 19 in the South Dakota Legislature and a responsibility I don’t take lightly,” said Representative Peterson. “As an ag producer with a young family in rural South Dakota, I understand the challenges facing our state and believe I’m uniquely qualified to help find solutions that ensure South Dakota remains one of the best places to live, work and raise a family.” For more information, contact Drew at drewericpeterson@gmail.com.
