Howdy, my name is Caleb Finck and I am the newly electedStateRepresentative from District 21 representing Tripp, Gregory, Charles Mix, and the western part of Bon Homme counties! I live south of Tripp, SD where I farm with my family and I work part time at a restaurant. I will be writing to you all on a weekly basis to try and keep everyone up to speed on what is happening during the 2019 Legislative Session. I will be serving on the House Ag and Natural Resources Committee as well as the House Transportation Committee. The first four legislative days went quickly last week as we met in Joint Session to hear the Governor Noem's State of the State address, the State of the Judiciary from Chief Justice David Gilbertson, and the State of the Tribes from the Honorable Rodney M. Bordeaux. Aside from those addresses most of the work happening right now is behind the scenes work researching and drafting legislation. I, like many others, have legislation being drafted and I will share those details with you once I have officially introduced them. All legislation for this session must be submitted by January 30th where it will begin working through the process. Some legislation that has already been filed will begin to work through the committee process this week. I encourage you to follow any legislation that interests you through the Legislative Research Councils website at sdlegislature.gov where you can track bills, listen to live committees, and daily floor session activity.
