The Avon Chamber of Commerce held their election of officers at their monthly meeting held Monday evening, February 10th. There are currently 28 full members and three associate members of the Avon Chamber. Officers elected include: President - Reese Powers Vice President - Lauren Jurrens Secretary - Dale Buchholz Treasurer - Aaron Rush "I'm honored to step into the role of Avon Chamber President and look forward to serving our great community," commented Powers. After earning associate degrees in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from Mitchell Tech, Reese returned to Avon to put her knowledge to work. She currently is co-owner of West Section Auction Service with her father, Dennis Powers, and Cheeto Tjeerdsma, and is excited to bring a new business to Main Street in the near future. Beyond business, she stays active in the community as a member of the volunteer fire department and is taking classes to join the ambulance crew. "Business has always been a passion of mine, and I’m eager to use that passion to help grow Avon. I hope to bring more events to town that foster fellowship and community spirit. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together!"
