RAVINIA ALL SCHOOL REUNION HELD
Submitted by Loretta Soulek
After being postponed a year because of the pandemic, the Ravinia All School Reunion was held July 26, 2021 at the Ravinia Fire Hall..
Oh, what a night!! Social hour started at approximately 3:00 after guests signed in and received their name tags. A buzz of conversation and socializing took place before a delicious supper of grilled brisket, chicken and all the fixings was served.
Dave Honomichl gave a report on the foundation and updates on the School Monument that was built in Ravinia close to where the original school was setting.
Jan (Schmidt) Schiferl welcomed the quests and the pledge of allegiance was said. Richard Dvorak summed up the whole event with his poem that he wrote and then gave the invocation before the dinner began. Opening remarks were made by Jean Barkley.
Scott Kooistra (who just entered his retirement life from radio station KYNT just a few hours prior to the reunion) was MC and game show host for the evening.
The game show was a family feud between the firemen and the Ravinia Alumni, who by the way won.
The former cheerleaders (Joan Novak, Roberta Clemens, Carol Kranig, Linda Davies, Janet Lhotak, Darlene Dvorak, Joyce Fuchs, and Peggy Melmer) led with action to the school song "On Ravinia."
Closing remarks were given by Carl Soulek. We appreciate the Ravinia Fire Department for allowing us to gather in the fire hall, the committee: Wanda Anderson, Jan Woods, Jan Schiferl and Jean Barkley. Also, Richard Dvorak, Dave and Marsha Honomichl, Carl and Loretta Soulek for helping out and Chad Soulek for grilling the meat.
Looking forward to our next reunion which will be the last Saturday in June, 2022. Go Bears!
