The Lady Raiders hosted the Irene-Wakonda Eagles this last Saturday in girls basketball action. Wagner would jump out to an early 24-7 lead after the first and come away with a 67-28 victory. Ashlyn Koupal would record a double-double with 27 points, 17 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Lydia Yost would tally 17 points, 4 boards and 3 assists. Macy Koupal would be the third Raider in double figures with 13 points, 7 boards, dish out 5 assists, and come away with 4 steals. Braxton Nedved finished with 6 points and 2 boards. Hannah Holzbauer and Aniyah Fields would round out the scoring with 2 and 1 point respectively. Wagner would shoot 24-54 for 44% while the Eagles would go 11-42 for 26%. Wagner would control the glass with a 36-24 rebounding margin. “Offensively we did a great job in transition and actually took a lot of great shots that just didn’t fall from the perimeter. We controlled the glass and did a much better job of talking on screens.”

The JV lost a heart breaker 29-27. After leading the entire firs half the Raiders would struggle in the second to score until the final 2 minutes. Hannah Holzbauer would lead all scorers with 11 points. Rico Fischer and Mateya Bruguier would each finish with 5 points. Olivia Podzimek would finish with 4, and Jazlyn Lhotak 1.
