The Wagner Red Raiders hosted the number 4 ranked MVP last Friday night but fell short. The final score was 48-24 with MVP coming out on top.

The Raiders got off to a slow start giving up 24 points in the first quarter. The Raiders posted on the scoreboard late in the 2nd quarter with a fouryard run by Chris Nelson. The 2-point conversion from Chris to Gannon Knebel was good. The second half of the game looked completely different for the Raiders. Bain Kuhlman stripped the ball out of MVP’s running backs hands and ran it back for a Raider touchdown. The final scoring drive of the game for the Raiders was capped off on an 8-yard run for a touchdown, and 2-point conversion by Jhett Breen. The Raiders had 261 yards of total offense on the night. Chris was 10-17 for 142 yards on the night and Gannon was 6-10 with another 59 yards. Riley Roberts had 6 receptions for 83 yards, Daniel Soukup had four receptions for 70 yards, Bain had three for 22 yards, Jhett had 2 for 19 yards, and Karstyn added 7 yards on his reception.

On the defensive side of the ball, we started slow. Missed tackles allowed huge plays to happen. Missed assignment also added to our demise. One of the most encouraging pieces of the game was that the Raiders never quit. The boys kept competing. Bain showed his leadership on the field, with his strip fumble for a touchdown in the third quarter. Leading tacklers for the Raiders were Chris (5) Bain, Riley, Karstyn (4), Gannon, Jhett, Parker, Hunter (3).

The Raiders last game of the regular season will be at Tri-Valley Friday October 14th.
