POWERED PARACHUTES MAKE STOP AT LAKE ANDES AIRPORT

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no wait.....those are powered parachutes!!! If you didn’t see them flying over head on August 10th, you missed it.

A very nice group of people came to our town’s LA-X (Lake Andes) airport. They came from Wisconsin, Arkansas, Minnesota, Florida and Illinois with powered parachutes and backpacks, then gave us a free show of what they love to do. Every year they start in their home states and meet up with other powered parachute enthusiasts and as they travel on their Gypsy Tour, more fliers join the tour and add to the fun. They camp and fly at small town airports. The machines can vary in price from $3,000 to $30,000 or more.

They spent the night after their flights relaxing around a campfire talking about the beautiful scenery and in the morning left for their next adventure in Chamberlain, for the next two evenings before they head to the Badlands.
