The Avon Little League/ Softball program hosted a MLB Pitch, Hit, and Run Competition on July 30th. Major League Baseball Pitch Hit & Run is a free event that provides boys and girls -- ages 7 to 14 -- an opportunity to showcase their baseball and softball skills, while earning a chance to attend and perform during the MLB World Series! The Avon event hosted 23 boys and girls who competed in three different skills, pitching, hitting, and running. Based on their scores in each event, a final score was calculated which determined the winner in each age group. Based on their scores, they may advance from a local event to a Team Championship held in MLB stadiums. Top scores then qualify for an all-expenses-paid trip for two to compete at Finals, which is hosted at the World Series.The Team Championships will take place in the months of August, September, and October. The Team Championships feed into the Finals, held at the MLB World Series. The Team Championships are typically held at Major League Baseball stadiums. We would like to thank all those athletes who participated, along with the parents and other volunteers who helped in scoring the event. Hopefully, we will have a few that will advance to a team championship!
