Avon Pirates football season came to a heartbreaking end Thursday night, October 31st as Canistota played a very tough game to give the Pirates the loss 8-16. The first quarter found both teams scoreless as both sides of the defense stayed strong. The second quarter found Aziah Meyer with the 4-yard touchdown run with Al' Shamon Gunter running in the 2-point conversion to end the first half 8-0. The second half found the offense struggling against Burke's defense as they kept them scoreless, but the Pirates allowed a 33-yard touchdown pass and 2-point conversion in the third quarter, and a 24-yard touchdown run and 2-point conversion in the 4th quarter. On the offense, Aziah Meyer rushed for 195 yards and 1 touchdown, and Landon Mudder rushed for 54 yards. On the defense, Mudder had 5 tackles and 5 assists, Gunter had 3 tackles and 7 assists, Meyer had 3 tackles and 2 assists, Randall Powers had 1 tackle and 4 assists, Dominic Doom had 1 tackle and 3 assists, Grayson Ratzlaff and Jaydon Driesen each had 1 tackle, Treyvan Talsma had 4 assists, Lance Odens had 3 assists, and Trenton Soukup caused the lone defense fumble.
