Avon Varsity Softball fell to Freeman/Marion/ Freeman Academy 10-9 on Friday on the final play of the game in the bottom of the 7th. Avon struck first in the second after Kaeli Wallinga grounded out scoring one run. They added to their lead in the top of the 3rd when Ashley Tolsma singled, scoring two runs, Wallinga doubled, scoring one run and the last run scored on a Freeman error. The Lady Pirates captured the lead 9-7 in the top of the 7th. Pria Sesler singled, and Abby Gretschmann singled each scoring one run. However, they could not hold the lead in the bottom of the 7th. Rilyn Thury and Macy Voigt were on the hill for the Lady Pirates. The team collected 13 hits in the game. Kinley Doom, Sesler, Gretschmann, Thury, and Tolsma each collected two hits. Gretschmann also stole two bases. Jordyn Voigt made some fabulous catches in left field. The Lady Pirates end their season at 6-12. The team would like everyone who came out and supported them this year!
