Avon Varsity Pirates won big over Parkston 11-5 Tuesday. The Pirates got on the board in the top of the first inning after Rilyn Thury tripled, Macy Voigt doubled and Pria Sesler tripled, each scoring one run.
Parkston took the led in the bottom of the fourth inning after the Pirates committed an error and Hobbick walked, each scoring one run.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Pirates went back into the lead after Voigt singled, Karlie DeVries singled, and Parkston committed an error, each scoring one run.
Voigt threw three innings of no-run ball for Avon in relief. The reliever also allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking four.
The Pirates piled up 12 hits in the game. Sesler and Voigt were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for the Pirates. Sesler, Kaeli Wallinga, Thury and Voigt each drove in two runs. Wallinga led the Pirates with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game.
