2015

Andes Central Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members celebrated FCCLA week at school. JJ Cooney and Matthew Bryant presented a project, “FCCLA at the Table”. The project included creating a cookbook to distribute at parent teacher conferences.

Local students named to the Mitchell Technical Institute’s President’s List were Latasha Dion, Alexander Evans and Joseph Evans.

20 YEARS AGO

2005

Brian Johnson and Katherine Ronfeldt were pleased to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

Marti Holderby and Justin Blair announced their engagement and upcoming marriage.

Middle School students of the month for Marty Indian Braves in January were Alexandrea Kezena, William Shields, Faye Kazena and Monique Zephier.

30 YEARS AGO

1995

Sixth graders that placed in the Andes Central spelling bee were Keeler Hopkins – 1st place; Danelle Svatos – 2nd place; and Danella Pfeffer, 3rd place.

Sylvia Pelizza was the new manager of the Lake Andes National Wildlife Refuge.

Angela Leibhan and Thomas Hruska exchanged vows on February 18th.

40 YEARS AGO

1985

New postage rates were up from 20 cents to 22 cents.

Darrel Dion wrestled for Andes Central at the state tournament in Sioux Falls. His first match he lost 5-4. In the first-round wrestle backs, he won 6-0. In the second round he lost 7-6.

Mary Sedlacek and Bruce Sorenson exchanged vows February 16.

50 YEARS AGO

1975

Twenty-eight ACHS students participated in the Region V Instrumental solo and small ensemble contest. The following students received a Superior rating: Ken Martinec, Robin Cummings, Betty Allen, Tammy Soulek, Roxanne Adam, Richard Bures, Jean Barkley, Tim Ridgeway and Melinda Moncrief.

Reverend and Mrs. Rolf Wangberg were the proud parents of a new daughter, Rachel Lynn, born on February 16th.

60 YEARS AGO

1965

Mr. and Mrs. Warren Eldridge were honored on their 30th wedding anniversary with a gathering in their home February 16th.

A son, Terry Wayne, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Miller on February 21st.

70 YEARS AGO

1955

The Lake Andes Eagles rolled over the Wagner Red Raiders 66-59; that same week they also defeated Wessington Springs 55-52.

Leo Carda reported the birth of a two headed calf, which died immediately after birth.
