A crowd of more than 200 people were entertained by Mollie B and Squeezebox at the Wagner Armory on Monday, February 24th. The band entertained the crowd throughout the evening with great polka, waltz and country style music. The Choteau Creek Brewing Company provided great ethnic food at the concession stand. Kreations by Kim were also available, who offered up a wide variety of homemade cookies and candy.
The concert and dance began at 7:00 p.m. and ended at 10:00 p.m. People in came from North Dakota and Nebraska, along with people from Sioux Falls, Winner, Burke, Tyndall and a wide variety of other towns in between, as well as Wagner area residents. The crowd began arriving as soon as 6:00 p.m. While many people sat and enjoyed the concert, many found it to hard to sit when such great music was being played so they got up and danced throughout the evening. Dancers stated they greatly enjoyed the opportunity to dance in the front of the band, in the aisle, in the back of the armory and even around the concession area. People thought it was just great to be able to get up and dance where ever they wanted.
During the break time several people were able to get a picture with Mollie B and enjoy the company of friends were also in attendance. It was also especially noticed that the crowd helped clear the entire gym floor full of chairs at the end of the evening. The entire floor was cleared in about a seven minute time frame by nearly everyone who attended, which was greatly appreciated.
This event was an extension of the 605 Unity Team’s effort to encourage working together as partners to help bring the community together. The partnership between the Fort Randall Casino, 605 Unity Team and members of the Wagner Chamber of Commerce once again proved it can be done if we choose. The Unity Team is already working on the 605 Unity Jam that is set to be held on June 15 at Wagner Lake. The event will listed in the South Dakota Magazine, again this year and it will reach 165,000 households. The hope is to bring more and more people to the community to enjoy the area. This special event will feature the Unity Buffalo art, great live music, arts and craft vendors, cultural dance, food, boat races, bean bag tournament and much more.
