The Two Wheel Wonders were 2014 champions of The Dakota Senior Meals Wheelchair Basketball Tournament defeating the Hot Wheels 20-14.
Corn was $3.67; beans $12.60; and winter wheat was $6.32.
Nichole Dvorak was featured as the senior spotlight who enjoys cooking with her mom, helping her dad on the farm, talking on the phone and hanging out with friends.

The Michelle Denney residence, located north of the fire hall in Lake Andes received extensive smoke damage in an afternoon fire.
Jamine Gau, Jill Laska, Rachel Bergin, and Tracey Chytka were named Academic All-State.
30 Years Ago – 1994
Enhanced 911 service in Charles Mix County is becoming closer to reality with the recent purchase of equipment and renovation construction at the County Law Enforcement Center underway. According to Stan Swatek, E-911 coordinator, basic 911 service should be in operation as soon as July 1.
South Dakota telephone users will need to get used to dialing the 605-area code for all long-distance calls they make within the state, as South Dakota joins the growing list of states implementing a new dialing plan.
KDLT Teacher That Makes A Difference nominee, Jeff Walder, was presented with a certificate from Kaylene Stirling, a sixth grade student at Andes Central, who nominated Walder.
Marie Parker was named Outstanding Female Athlete.
Boys Staters are Josh Svatos, Rob Zimmerman and Tom Frankenstein.
40 Years Ago – 1984
Henry and Goldie Hysell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
A proposed building to house the Lake Andes Fire Department, Lake Andes Ambulance Association, the Senior Citizen Center and Community Building was presented.
50 Years Ago – 1974
Mike Rhoades placed third in the 186 lb class and Rod Payer placed fifth at 167 lbs in the State “B” Wrestling Tournament.
Ronfeldt Electric bowling team leads in the Men’s City Association Tournament now being held at Andes Lanes.
Lynn Muriel was born to Mr. and Mrs. Glen Myers, Jr.
60 Years Ago – 1964
The Andes Oilers won the team event in the Women’s City Association Tournament. Team members include Rose Donovan, Joyce Pesicka, Jane Flessner, Marlene Brooks and Thelma Zachariasen. The School Profs, Terry Walters, Bill Carda, Don Thompson, Sam Mead and L.F. Thomas, walked off with top honors in the Men’s City Association tournament.
Proposed irrigation unit developments on nearly 25,000 acres in Charles-Mix County will be discussed at upcoming meetings, according to County Agent Joe Sperl.
70 Years Ago – 1954
John and James Uithoven will open a Gamble Store.
Jess Adams, owner of the local Ben Franklin Store, announced that Mrs. Eleanor Slaba had been promoted to assistant manager.
At its last meeting, the Chamber of Commerce decided to organize and sponsor the Boy Scout. This organization, which has been inactive in Lake Andes the past few years will be headed by Mart Carlisle.
80 Years Ago – 1944
Now that the priority on the installation of a locker system has been granted by the government. Olaf Mathison, proprietor of Mat’s Market, has arranged to begin installing his 250-locker plant within thirty days if adequate help can be procured.
Lake Andes won over a strong Corsica team by a score of 33-30. Christensen and Newman both turned in eight points for Lake Andes. Line up for Lake Andes was Vesley, Newman, Christensen, Krist, Engel and Jones.
Arthur Exon has been promoted to the rank of Major in the Air Force. He is stationed in Italy.
Tech. Sgt. John J. Exon is now stationed in New Orleans.
100 Years Ago – 1924 Dress up and surprise your wife and meet her at the Masquerade Ball Legion Hall, Feb 22nd.
A number of friends and neighbors of Mr. E.J. Rhein and Mr. and Mrs. Eldred were invited to party given at the Harry Rhein home in their honor.
About 30 Offellows and Rebekahs drove out to the L. Lorenson home northwest of the city for the purpose of springing a farewall surprise party on them.
A deal was made where C.E. Hall purchased the drug store from C.E. Fellows.
Ray Newman, son of T.S. Newman and Melissa Esther Becker were united in marriage at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. N.J. Cotton and husband, Reverend Calvin Foster speaking the words that made them man and wife.
Frank Blankenhagen is feeling quite elated over the sale of his Chester White hogs. A good-sized crowd attended the sale and he made an average of $35 a head.
This seems to be a week of business changes in the city. Joe disposed of his harness shop to Paul Kasulka.
Yankton – A petition asked that an election for a vote on the question of establishing municipal court in Yankton presented to the city committee at a recent meeting.
