1931 - 90 years ago

Misses Helen Robertson and Alice Lindquist were Yankton visitors last Saturday.

Armistice Day passed very quietly in Lake Andes. Aside from the football games between the home and Bonesteel school teams, nothing of importance happened. Must business places were closed from noon until Thursday morning.

James and Joe Dolejsi and Ernest Martinec returned Sunday from Iowa where they were husking corn for the past 30 days.

Note that the members of the D.A.R of Spink County held a district meeting at Athol. The guy that named the town had either a hair-lip or a bad cold -- maybe both.

1951 - 70 years ago

Several people have reported they've gotten a goose or geese since the cold weather set in. I guess that's every hunter's great ambition.

There were 150 attending the second regular meeting of the Ravinia PTA last Thursday, according to the president, Victor Hamik. The goldfish bowl, a prize held by the grade room having the largest percentage of parents in attendance, went to Miss Scholten's room with 38 per cent. It had been in Mrs. Longwooks room the past month.

1961 - 60 years ago

Frank Novoty, Lake Andes, was renamed chairman of the operations committee of East River Electric Power Cooperative at a directors meeting. Novoty is also secretary of the Charles Mix Electric Association.

Twila Ann Kisley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony E. Kisley, won the top award in the speech contest with a five minute talk on geography lesson, "The Earth as a Globe", illustrated with a flannelgraph.

Pat Gant of Geddes was elected the 1962 chairman of the Area 5 Extension Board members at a meeting in Gregory last week.
