1931 - 90 years ago

The waters of Lake Andes are receding rapidly, and we are informed that the water is only 3 1/2 feet deep at the deepest spot.

"Fun without cost" will be taught at the recreation training school to be held at Lake Andes October 3. Miss Ella Gardener, recreation specialist from the Dept. of Labor, will conduct this special training school.

Fred and John Kaiser and Edward and Alvin Gleich went to Huron to spend the week at the State Fair where they made several entries.

1951 - 70 years ago

Mrs. Paul Wentland Jr. of Lake Andes held a farewell party last Sunday in honor of her husband who is leaving for the Army soon.

Mrs. Caroline Isaacson and daughter Ilene came Monday evening to visit relatives and friends.

Oiling of the streets is progressing rapidly now, with overtime being put in so the job can be finished before too cold weather sets in.

Mrs. William Varilek and Douglas of Geddes visited with her mother, Ina Walker Saturday forenoon, and in the afternoon attended a Stanley Party at the home of Mrs. Donald Walker.

1961 - 60 years ago

The newly elected officers of the American Lutheran Church Women's Auxiliary are Mrs. WIlliam Palvis, President; Mrs. Leonard Schrank, vice-president; Mrs. Albert Svatos, treasurer; Mrs. Russell Stedronsky, secretary of education; Mrs. Albert Jones, secretary of stewardship, Mrs. Fred Haar.

Marie Skotvold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Skotvold, participated in the "Share the Fun Contest" in the master ceremonies division at the State Fair after being named district champion.
