1931 - 90 years ago

The high school enrollment this year is 102 pupils. There are two graduate students, Frances Bolliner and Dorothy Richardson.

Miss Jennie Kirkpatrick of Wagner left Tuesday morning for Lake Andes, where she will enter upon her third year of teaching in the grades of the Lake Andes schools.

Little Terry, Jr., infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Holden has been quite sick for the past week, but is making satisfactory recovery. His ailment was intestinal flu and teething combined.

1951 - 70 years ago

Friends and relatives gathered at the Standley Bergin home Sunday, September 9, to help them celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

John J. Exon of the Exon Abstract Company and L.H. Beemer of the Beemer Abstract Company, both of Lake Andes, attended the annual convention of the S.D. Title Association which was held in Sioux Falls September 8.

Brother David Melmer, son of Mrs. Rose Melmer, left Sunday for Loretto, Pa., after spending his vacation with relatives and friends here.

1961 - 60 years ago

A charter for a local bank in Lake Andes has been issued by the State Banking Commission, Morris Winter, who will be president of the bank, announced today. Winter, 38, veteran Armour banker, said no target date for opening Andes State Bank will be set until the final approval of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Tom Varilek and Roger Pavlis, Geddes and Janet Bromert, Ravinia, all presenting Charles Mix County won purple ribbons in the first two days at the State Fair.

1971 - 50 years ago

The Andes Central Eagles took their second SESD Conference win Friday night by rolling through the Parkston Trojans 36-8 at Parkston. The Eagles racked up 430 yards of total offense en-route to victory while limiting the Trojans to 66 yards.

The Andes Central High School Marching Band participated in the Wagner Labor Day parade and took the Best Band Trophy for 1971.
