1931 - 90 years ago

Sunday a Lake Andes ball team won their 11th of 13 games played this season by defeating Plankinton 10-8 there. In the first inning Lefty Johnson and Art Vandall made home runs and started the fireworks which continued to the end. The report that grasshoppers ate two post holes and a chunk out of the channel of the Missouri River near the Wheeler Bridge is false and the scoundrel that circulated the report is known and being closely watched by neighbors.

1951 - 70 years ago

Tom McLaughlin, advance representative of the Cole and Walters Circus, was a caller in the WAVE OFFICE and announced the coming of the first big circus of the season.

A family reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Peacock for Mrs. James Minahan and her sisters brother and families.

Mrs. Ole Mathison and son Duane arrived home this week after spending the summer with Mr. Mathison who has been employed at various points in Kansas.

1961 - 60 years ago

Marie Skotvold, Lake Andes, won the purple ribbon award in the Master of Ceremony division at the district share-the-fun contest in Chamberlain July 28. One hundred-thirty 4-H'ers participated in this event.

An addition to and remodeling of Pete's Cafe are nearly completed, Pete Novotny has announced. A 16x24 foot addition will house the new kitchen. The former kitchen area is being remodeled into dining area which will increase the capacity to 62.
