At Herrick last Sunday, the Lake Andes Indians beat the Herrick team 7 to 3, even though the latter team imported five plays for the occasion. Up to the 9th frame the score was 3 to 3 when the Indians got fired up at so much dawdling around and 5 of them stepped to the plate and each swatted a safe hit, pushing the score to a decisive margin. Those performing in the escapade were Sol Kiuyan, O. Thompson, Lefty Johnson, J. Ferris and Cecil Vandall.
Atty and Mrs. J. E. Tipton and daughters, Ruby and Marian, left early Sunday morning for a couple weeks rest, fishing and sight seeing in the Black Hills.

Last week the Andes Shoe Repair Shop opened for business in the building three doors west of the Mix Theatre. The proprietor and repair man, George Fredricks, Jr., is an experienced shoe man, and with his all new equipment you can expect satisfactory results when you take your shoes to him to be worked on.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Newman and sons, Wayne and Larry were callers in Huron Tuesday.
A son weighing 8 lbs., 5 1/2 oz. was born to Mr. and Mrs. Milo Brown of Pickstown at the Fort Randall Hospital on July 10.

Modern automatic pinsetters will be in operation on all four lanes at Andes Alleys next fall, Guy Brown, owner, has announced.
President Ruben Huber told the Lakers Club that a new location of the municipal airport is being considered on land just south of the city limits. A civil Aeronautics engineer is to visit the city to examine the location. A runway of 2,800 feet is needed. Huber said the government will develop the airport if the city owns the land and can prove a need for it.

Kris Sanders, Lake Andes, was one of the 15 area students selected staff member to publish the S.T.O.P. (Southern’s Trajectory Occupational Program) newspaper, the S.T.O.P. Light. Miss Sanders was a junior at Andes Central High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Kaye Fox and family of Portland, Oregon visited in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George J. Schekel from Saturday to Wednesday. They left for a trip to Michigan and Connecticut, planning to return here at the end of this month.
