1931 - 90 years ago

It was conservatively estimated that 10,000 person helped Lake Andes celebrate its 16th annual Fish Day celebration last Friday. People from nearly all parts of the state, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska were here. Cars from as far as Oklahoma, Indiana, Montana and every other direction were to be seen.

Little Bobby Lokken, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Lokken had a bad accident Friday when he fell from a hayloft and cut his forehead. It was necessary to take several stitches in the gash.

Miss Helen Sprick left Sunday for a weeks visit to relatives in Sioux City.

1951 - 70 years ago Dewey Sorenson has sold his farm machinery, livestock and crops to Henry Sprick, who will take possession within a week. Dewey and family are moving to Omaha.

Miss Elsie Sejnoha of Tyndall was a guest from Thursday until Sunday of her cousin, Mrs. Walter Engel and husband.

Miss Florence Helms, Huron, was visiting Miss Helen Woods for a few days. Miss Helms is one of the former teachers in our city school and is to teach in Roslyn, this coming year.

1961 - 60 years ago

Lake Andes' remodeled swimming pool will be ready for its 1971 season opening Monday, perhaps before. Lifeguards this summer will be Frank Johnson of Platte and Sharon Gorman of Lake Andes.

Lake Andes Lakers pondered the city's urgent need for additional housing at their meeting last Wednesday. Max Becker, housing chairman of the Chamber of Commerce told the civic club that Air Force officials have been investigating housing possibilities in Lake Andes.

1971 - 50 years ago

Judge Padrnos was awarded a 50-year certificate as a member of the State Bar of South Dakota for the past 50 years.

Kevin Coler of Lake Andes was named to the Dean's List at South Dakota State Univiersity.

Mrs. Avis Stienmark and Mrs. Fred Hughes arrived home Sunday after spending a week visiting relatives and friends in Denver.
