Weekly temperatures averaged from near normal in the extreme southeast to seven degrees below normal in the west, according to the South Dakota Crop and Livestock Reporting Service and the National Weather Service.
Six students graduate with honors and one with high honors from Andes Central High School.
Friday night, May 21st opened the Randall Valley Raceway. Winning in the opening race in the hobby stock division placing 1st was Dennis Fechner; 2nd, Bill Kocer; 3rd, Lee Bridge; 4th, Jody Vesely.
Royal Neighbors Annual Birthday Party was on Tuesday evening, May 18 at the Legion Hall with husbands and friends as guests. The evening was spent in playing Pitch with Hi score for men and women won by Tim Osienger and Lula Laska, Low score by Ray Perry and Leone Osienger. Myrtle Edwards won the door prize. A pot luck lunch was served. Lillian Durham baked and decorated the birthday cake.

The Lake Andes baseball team managed by Red Allen, has won both their games, opening victoriously over Burke, and then beating Geddes last Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Williamson and family spent last weekend at the L.C. Hoffbauer home in Aberdeen. Mrs. Hoffbauer is Mrs. Williamson's mother. Her brother, Adrian Haines returned with them to spend a few days in Pickstown.
A hospital stand selling lunches and baked goods as a benefit for Lake Andes' proposed community hospital will again be maintained during the annual Fish Day event.

A pot luck dinner honoring Mrs. Elaine Harris was held in the Guild Room of St. Peter's Episcopal Church Thursday evening. Mrs. Harris recently resigned the position of organist and will travel this summer.
Three high school students at Pickstown earned straight A's for the year. They are Jane Idom, freshman; Helen Elmor and Don Pestan, Sophomores.
Other gaining the distinction of being on the honor roll with an above average were Dick Jackson, Sue Brown, Stephens, Mary Beth Gilliam, Sally Green, Art Trautman, Janice Kirkeby and Pat Olson, Sophomores; Betty Jo Gillam, Jean Fisk, Ralph Idom and William Specht, Juniors; and JoAnne Cressman, senior.

Announcements were received stating that Loretta Lucille, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Page of this city, and Anton Gilbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lars K. Lengeland, west of town, were married Dec. 13, 1930, at Burke. The bride was a school teacher in rural Nebraska.
Miss Ellen Jones graduated from high school with an above average of 93.75 for the four years. The next two highest were Helen Prickett and Dorothy Dermody.
