1961 - 60 Years Ago

The Lake Andes chapter of FFA received a bronze award for safety at the state FFA convention and contest in Brookings. The award was based on good safety record of the Lake Andes area. The FFA had entered a national contest in a drive to reduce farm accidents.

1951- 70 Years Ago

The erection of the big addition and full brick front of the Lakeside Auto Co.'s garage is rapidly nearing completion. It will be a big addition to the business and the appearance of that part of Main Street. Earl Allgier and H. Vokes are the contractors.

George Bell, whose farm lies along the east shore of the lake, says the heavy rains this spring have raised the water level of the lake a boot's length, or nearly 18 inches.

The Ravinia High School graduation will be Wednesday. The six graduates are Merle Gilreath, Theresa Denk, Elsie Drakes, George Ruble, Vernon Engelhorn, and Fred Sadler.

1931 - 90 Years Ago

The Baccalaureate address will be given in the high school auditorium next Sunday with commencement exercises taking place at the same place Thursday evening. The graduates are Ardell Hamren, Jack Miller, Ken Ritts, Roland Hinzman, John Rokusek, Emily Rokusek, Ray Engel, Oliver Hylland, Ellen Jones, Dorothy Dermody, Dorothy Richardson, Pearl Amundson, Eleanor Steele, Loraine Melmer, Lorraine Jones, Helen Prickett and Ada Grinde.

G. Richardson and Nathan Leach of Lake Andes were calling on friends in Platte last Saturday.

'Nate' is an old baseball enthusiast and if he could not bat a ball clear it was not fun for him. He has lately got the golf bug and is experiencing the same trouble in finding his golf balls.
