The all new Andes Coin Laundry and Dry Cleaners have slated their Grand Opening for February 16th.

Mexican Siesta Saturday at Pete's Cafe with tacos, tostados, frijoles and Spanish rice for only $1.25 (includes coffee).

1961 - 60 Years Ago

Terry Wheeler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wheeler, graduated Saturday from the University of South Dakota in the accounting class.

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Anderson of Pickstown are the parents of a son who arrived January 26 at the Wagner Community Hospital.

A daughter, Dixie Lynn, was born January 5 in Lebanon, Oregon to Mr. and Mrs. Dick Dirks. Mrs. Dirks is the former Marilyn Svatos of Lake Andes.

A son weighing seven pounds 13 ounces was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dean Fischer. He has been named Kent Dean.

1951 - 70 Years Ago

The Lake Andes Eagles tied for first place in the Weekly Associated Press basketball poll.

Eighteen striking Pickstown teachers returned to their classes and found most of their pupils in their seats despite 20-degree temperatures. The teachers walked out last Friday in protest over the discharge of the superintendents secretary, decided to return to work at the request of many parents.

The McKenna Cab Service opened for business with headquarters at the Welch Bar in Lake Andes and at the Snack Bar in Pickstown.

1931 - 90 Years Ago

The Andes Girls basketball team won over Ravinia by a close 38-36 score.

Four men were placed under arrest on complaint of the Geddes City Council charged with torturing an animal. A dog strayed into the William Yarosh pool hall where four men poured gasoline on it. The burning dog ran out int he street and was finally shot to prevent further suffering. The mean were released under bonds of $500 each.
