2015

Ihanktonwan Community College is now a GED testing site.

Andes Central held their Elementary School Winter Program.

Andes Central Elementary Student Council delivered Christmas cards and gift bags to the residents at Lake Andes Health Care Center.

ACDC wresters participated in the MVPCS Tournament in Planktinton where Tre’zen Doren earned 1st place.

20 YEARS AGO

2005

Haley and Jenna Cournoyer, ages 8 and 10, went over their Christmas list with Santa last weekend at Jone’s Food Center. Six-year-old Danial Archambeau also visited with Santa Claus.

Marty Middle School had named their Students of the Month for November: TaSheena Zephier, Isiah Drapeau, Tess Primeaux and Wetu Kiyukan.

Members of the ACHS Wrestling team were Robert Bennett, Ricky Bergin, Ron Knudsen, Dale Svatos, Colton Archambeau, Corey Frankenstein, Patrick Pesicka, Tim Medicine Horn, and Tanner Houseman. Coaches were Keith Stirling and Jay Maynard.

Mary Herrold was the winner of the Voice of Democracy Contest.

Leslie Nelson was honored for 50 years of membership in the Lake Andes Masonic Lodge #169.

Don Hosek was named Charles Mix County Highway Superintendent.

Mr. and Mr. D.R. Sabalka of Bonesteel purchased the Lake Andes Wave. Mrs. Kevin Wells was in charge of the office.

1965

Vanderpol Construction was the successful bidder for the construction of the new airport.

Senator George McGovern was the speaker at the Lake Andes Farmer’s Co-op 57th Annual Meeting.

The Lake Andes Chamber of Commerce voted to add approximately $360 needed to complete the fund drive of $40,000 toward a Nursing Home in Lake Andes.

Pete’s Café was offering hamburgers for 15 cents each.

70 YEARS AGO

1955

Northwestern Public Service customers received a savings of $378,200 resulting from the use of the Missouri River power.

Rev. Floyd R. Bacon was installed as Official Pastor of the Lake Andes Lutheran Parish.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Gall.
