16 Andes Central Juniors and Seniors attended Career Planning Days held in Mitchell. Their first session was at Dakota Wesleyan University where the focus was on students wanting to attend a college, university, or join a branch of the military upon graduation. Their second portion included a trip to the county fairgrounds where students were shown more vocational institutions of learning.
John and Bessie Machacek were highlighted for restoring a log cabin that was built in 1872.
AC/DC 8th grade volleyball placed 2nd in a tournament held in Tyndall. The team consisted of players Karleah Pheifer, Isabel Pheifer, Mackenzie Muckey, Angelina Wade, Kelsey Vander Pol, Hannah Hansum, Annamarie Medicine Horn, Melanie Mudder, Keaona Doren, Avery Schacht and Coach Heather Heymeyer.

Voters in White Swan Township voted down the tax freeze opt-out on September 29. The vote count was 32-19 with 51 out of a possible 419 voters casting their ballot.
St. Mark’s Annual Fall Dinner was held, and adult meals were $6.00.
Robert Cournoyer was the newly elected Yankton Sioux Tribal Chairman. Stephan Cournoyer, Jr., was elected as Vice-Chairman; Lisa Arrow Haire, secretary; and John Sully, treasurer. Mark Van Norman, executive director of the Indian Gaming Commission, was the guest speaker at the Inauguration ceremonies.
The winner of $50 for week of Lake Andes Volunteer Fire Department Monday Night football contest was R.G. Svatos.
