Dr. Benedict E. Hardman, former resident of Lake Andes, has written a book that has sold 5,000 copies the first two weeks and has another 5,000 copies being printed.

Darcy Edwards, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Edwards Jr., has been selected as the Daughters of the American Revolution candidate at Andes Central High School.

Mr. and Mrs. S.K. (Jiggs) Krokaugger of Pickstown announce the engagement of their daughter, Rhonda Jean, to Mr. Glenn Broski of Sioux Falls.

Pete Blankenfeld, Marlin Sejnoha, Kenneth Nelson, James Rolston, John Westendorf and Lee Linnell were elevated to the Chapter Farmer degree at the monthly meeting of the Lake Andes Future Farmers of America Chapter on Monday.

1951 - 70 Years Ago

The Lake Andes Eagles rang up their 13th straight victory last Friday winning over Platte Black Panthers 72-49.

At the last regular meeting of the Lake Andes Chamber of Commerce, election of officers was held for the ensuing year, with the following results: President - Jerry Young, Vice-President - Sam Mead and secretary/treasurer - L.H. Beemer.

1931 - 90 Years Ago

The ladies Wednesday afternoon Bridge club met at the home of Mrs. George W. Ramsdell.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brooks and family spent a pleasant evening with Mr. and Mrs. Gus Kasulka Monday.

A daughter was born Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. L.F. Booher, south of town.

Miss Helen Sprick left Monday for Los Angeles, where she has a position as nurse in one of the big hospitals.

John Martinec and Max Allgier returned the middle of last week from Wagner where they had spent several weeks buying and dressing poultry.

Guy Parker, manager of the Lyric Theater at Platte, spent a few hours with parents on Tuesday.

Those receiving the highest averages for the third six weeks were Agnes Cassidy, Helen Rokusek, Virginia Jones, Rose Sejnoha and Lawrence Beemer.
