10 YEARS AGO

2015

The Wagner American Legion Greer Post #11 held their 26th annual sweepstakes drawing of $5,000 and the winners were Bruce and Marilyn Krentz.

Wagner JAG students (Ebony Tiger, Ashton Zephier and Jordan Drews) testified before the House Appropriations Committee in support of HB1191, a bill to expand the JAG program in South Dakota.

Three Raider wrestlers placed at the State wrestling tournament. Ben Soukup finished in 7th place; Truman Ashes took home 4th place; and Trevor Lensing came in 2nd.

20 YEARS AGO

2005

The 153rd EN BN returned home from their deployment. The unit came off of their plane in Huron, where a deactivation ceremony was held.

Sabrina Marie Kreber, Grace Isabella Sterling and Jack Jeremy Martin were born.

Becky Kokesh and Katie Holzbauer were nursing students at Mount Marty College.

The Wagner Good Samaritan Center awarded Stephanie Muilenburg the Staff Member of the Year and Gloria Gunnare was named the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) of the Year.

Kristi Soukup and Janelle Kuhlman were named to the Basketball Academic All-State team.

30 YEARS AGO

1995

The “Unsolved Mysteries” film crew was in Lake Andes taping a series of events in the mysterious disappearance and death of a young Lake Andes couple.

A wedding dance in honor of Stacy Mohr and David Greger was held.

Joe and Mary Novak celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

45 YEARS AGO

1980

Joni Miller and Joe Soukup announced their engagement. Debbie Krcil and Dwayne Brandt announced their engagement.

Wagner gymnasts won the State B Championship.

70 YEARS AGO

1954

A miscellaneous shower was held in honor of Mrs. Vern Popenee, hosted by Josephine Bartunek.

A daughter as born to Mr. and Mrs. John Gunnare, a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bren and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Peterson..

92 YEARS AGO

1932

William Ober and Rose Bartunek exchanged vows.

Charles Blacksmith and Pansy Gulickson exchanged vows.

The little baby of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Charvat was in the hospital with pneumonia.
