Governor Dennis Daugaard announced that the state Board of Water and Natural Resources approved a $275,000 grant to the Randall Resource Conservation and Development Association for a watershed restoration project.

The first baby born of 2015 at the Avera St. Benedict Health Center was Grayson Kayne, son of Erica Bruguier and Jason Thunder Horse Sr.

At the Fort Pierre wrestling triangular, the Eagles lost the first dual against Stanley County with a score of 66-18; they also fell to the Winner Warriors in the second dual with a score of 72-12.

Wagner Indian Health Services welcomed a new optometrist to the facility. Dr. Julie Williams, O.D. and Kenny Gullikson, optometric technician.

U.S. Senator Tim Johnson announced $573,281 in funding to the Head Start program located at South Central Child Development Inc. in Wagner.

Reverend Conrad H. Ciesel was installed as Vicar of the Yankton Episcopal Churches, in a Solemn Ceremony at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Lake Andes.

The Knights of Columbus free throw contest was held. Winners included: age 10 – Charlie Hopkins and Leah Brooks; age 11 - Jerry Chytka and Sabrina Dumdei; age 12 – Brian Johanneson and Misty Bruguier; age 13 – Willard Bruguier and Tara Roan Eagle; age 14 – Travis Vesely.

1985

Randy and Renee Dvorak were proud to announce the birth of their daughter Candance Rae.

Gordon Johnke of Lake Andes was a member of the Black Hills State College Wrestling team.

The Andes Central wrestlers traveled to Salem to participate in the Salem Invitational wrestling tournament. Three wrestlers placed fourth for the Eagles: Robert Dillion, Ray Flying Hawk, and Matt Weeg.

James F. Hughes announced his retirement from the Soil Conservation Service. His retirement culminated 37 years of public service.

60 Years Ago

1965

The Lake Andes fire department held their election of officers. The new officers elected were Richard Safar, fire chief; Leo Soulek, fire chief assistant; and Frank Minhan, secretary-treasurer.

The Lake Andes Eagles came from behind to win the Ft. Randall conference tournament, defeating the smooth working Geddes Rams 59-48.

The Lake Andes Eagles continued to dominate the basketball court as they edged the Wagner Red Raiders 42-41.

Mr. and Mrs. James Mitzel announced the arrival of a baby girl, Sheila Rae, born January 15th.

Miss Delores Jean McCabe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. McCabe, became the bride of Robert J. Mueller, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Otte E. Mueller.
