Edith Spotted Elk Selwyn at 105 years old did not miss her opportunity to vote on Tuesday at the Lake Andes polling location.
Those elected for Charles-Mix County were Randy Thaler for Sheriff; and Sherri Fuchs for Auditor. Other representatives elected were Mike Rounds as Senator; Dennis Daugaard as SD Governor; Lee Qualm as State Representative; Kristi Noem as US Representative; Rich Sattgast as State Treasurer; Steve Barnett for State Auditor; Shantel Krebs as Secretary of State; Gary Hanson for Public Utilities Commissioner; Ryan Brunner for Commissioner of School and Public Lands; and Marty Jackley for Attorney General.
Sydney Dvorak was the Hereford Sweepstakes winner at the Western Junior Livestock Show.
Marty Indian School performed “Rapunzel” under the direction of the Missoula Children’s Theatre.
The Reader Photo of the Week was the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial in Hawaii that was created in tribute to the memory of those entombed and the ship mates that gave their lives in action on December 7, 1941.
20 Years Ago – 2004
Greg Nielson of the 153rd EN BN was on leave for two weeks from Iraq. Greg came to Andes Central as a speaker for the Veteran’s Day Program.
Dave and Eileen Carda celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Elwyn Aase celebrated his 80th birthday.
Marty Indian School October students of the month were: TaSheena Zephier, Elizabeth Eddy, Deonne Cavender, and Levi Apple.
The South Dakota Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences honored Karen Petrik.
30 Years Ago – 1994
Andes Central Eagle 1994 Great Plains All Conference players were Brian Braun and J.D. Evans.
Lady Eagles defeated Wagner 41-33 on Parent’s Night.
Elected TORCH officers in high school were Mandy Bures, Patti Evans, Amber Solko and Dawn Coenen and middle school officers were Sherri Svatos, B.J. Longe and Johna Brooks.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Evans reported the arrival of their baby girl, Penny Rae, born on November 20th.

A daughter, Donna Rae, was born November 23rd to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Gall.
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Karel Vasek, November 21st.

Richard E. Padrnos, Lake Andes, was a senior at the University of South Dakota majoring in medicine, and was named to “Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges.'
Ravinia School carnival was held; Kathy Soulek will reign as Queen assisted by Don Druyvestein as King.
80 Years Ago – 1944
Frank Minahan toured through Rome and even was able to see the Pope.
A farewell party was hosted in the Presbyterian Church parlor in honor of the Reverent Mrs. D.G. Luke.
