10 Years Ago – 2014

Andes Central held their homecoming coronation. Crown bearers were AJ Johnson and Emery Bultje. The homecoming candidates were Jason Drapeaux Jr., Nathan Herrold, King Tyrone Flying Hawk, Queen Rebecca Lehmann, Ashley Kirkpatrick, and Brooke Deurmeier.

Andes Central students attended a college career fair with their school counselor, Donna Veurink, at the DWU Wellness Center.

20 Years Ago – 2004

Harry Medicine Bear and Kelsey Cavender reigned as the 2004-2005 Andes Central homecoming King and Queen.

Andes Central rushed for 134 yards with Flying Hawk leading the way with 92 yards on the ground. Bruguier passed for 60 yards and Medicine Bear had 52 yards in receptions.

30 Years Ago – 1994

Brian Braun and Patti Evans were chosen homecoming King and Queen.

The Andes Central Eagle emblem was painted on the newly refinished water tower. The design is the same as the one in the gym. It was designed by the late Mark Kruger. The painting was done by H & H Water Towers.

40 Years Ago – 1984

Bob Nelson and Michelle McCabe were chosen homecoming King and Queen.

Chris Carda was credited with 17 tackles; Randy Sellers with 16 tackles; and Todd Gasper, 15 tackles in the Eagles’ victory 6-0 over Parkston.

Senior forward, Kim Miller, again served as the main pivot for the girls’ varsity at New Holland as AC defeated the Dakota Christian Cadets 47-41.

50 Years Ago – 1974

A son, Christopher Ward, was born to Mr. and Mrs. David Melmer on October 6th.

Five pounds of flour cost $0.75 and three pounds of apples cost $0.69.

An open house was held at the Lutheran Church in observance of its 75th anniversary.

60 Years Ago – 1964

Kenny Carda and Phil Murray were crowned homecoming King and Queen.

The Lake Andes marching band won second place in the C division at the Springfield Founders Day Contest.

70 Years Ago – 1954

Lake Andes Eagles shut out Delmont 43-0 in a six-man conference game.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Varilek.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Kavanaugh.

80 Years Ago – 1944

Lake Andes defeated Marty Mission 20-2.

An exciting moment of the game was a forty yard run made by “Sunny”Kniffen. Brooks, Bergin, Jones, Maruska, Kniffen, and Zacharias were the starting lineup “Buzz' Evans was the only substitute.
