The Gus Stop in Lake Andes will open their doors for the first time. They offer a variety of convenience items, beer, pop and lots more.

An open house was held in honor of Norb Kranz’s 80th birthday.

Dwight and Jo Herrold celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

News anchor Tom Brokaw was in the area for the Pickstown reunion.

Lyle Bergin in Car #11 made a clean sweep at the LA Speedway winning the heat, trophy and feature races.

40 Years Ago – 1984

Andes State Bank announced the addition of Sally Winter to the staff.

The Ravinia Boars took 1st place in the Yankton 6th Annual 12” Slow-pitch 1984 Tri-State Tournament in the C Division.

A girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hart.

The Golden Eagle Steakhouse & Lounge celebrated their 5th anniversary.

50 Years Ago – 1974

“Scalawag” was scheduled to show at the Ft. Randall AutoVue Drive-In Bargain Night.

High winds and hail did extensive damage to crops and buildings in the area.

The Farmers Home Administration office moved its location, which is in the Beemer Abstract building.

Norbert Faulstich is the new assistant County Extension Agent in Charles-Mix County.

70 Years Ago – 1954

Clifford Anderson opened a café and gas station located one and a half mile east of Lake Andes.

It will be known as the Old Fort.
