The 2014 Run with Ancestors was held.

20 Years Ago – 2004

Gerri Hart and Eric Olson announced the birth of their daughter.

Jerry Zephier received his Associate of Arts degree in Christian Ministry from Cook College and Theological School in Tempe, AZ.

The Ft. Randall Casino celebrated their 13th Anniversary with a huge fireworks display.

30 Years Ago – 1994

Ruth Kern celebrated her 90th birthday at the Lake Andes Health Care Center.

Carrie Ackerman-Rice, middle school teacher at Marty Indian School, was nominated for the KDLT-TV Teachers that Make a Difference.

Daniel J. Morrison, DDS took charge of the Lake Andes Dental Clinic.

40 Years Ago – 1984

Leona Mead resigned as Clerk of Courts after working thirty-two years in county government.

John Stone placed third in the USA National Wrestling Tournament held in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Harold Cheesman of Omaha, NE caught a 52-pound flathead catfish when he was trolling for walleyes in the North Point Bay area. The flathead was 44 5/16 inches long and 33 ½ inches around. The flathead beat the old state record by 2 ½ pounds.

Jane Kaltsulas and Bruce Stedronsky were married.

50 Years Ago – 1974

Max and Marjorie Jeffords have taken over as managers of the Circle H Model.

60 Years Ago – 1964

Daylene Rae was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Newman; Julie Beth was born to Mr. and Mrs. Terry Lee; and Tammy Jo was born to Mr. and Mrs. Merle Myers.

High winds, rain and hail damaged crops and buildings, and snapped light poles in half in an early morning storm.

An open house was scheduled at Ft. Randall Service & Café at Pickstown, east of Pickstown on Highway 46.

A fun-filled trip to Minneapolis for a “Ski-O-Rama” and “Houseboat Holiday” was in store for Minneapolis Star carrier salesman, Kevin Reinschmidt.

Miss Alice Sejnoha became the bride of LaVern Koupal.

Specials at Milt’s Market included Kraft longhorn cheese 39 cents per pound; sugar, 10 pounds for 69 cents; Northern tissue, 19 cents per package; and Miracle Whip 49 cents per quart.
