ORAL INTERP TAKES 3RD AT SIOUX FALLS WASHINGTON

It is one of the toughest and largest meets of the year; The Sioux Falls Washington Circle of Courage Oral Interp Meet held on October 17th. Wagner had 12 entries in this meet, three of whom qualified for top placings. With all of our entries and overall placing from each entry, Wagner took 3rd in the Class A Sweepstakes. This is one of the first times Wagner has earned a ranking in their class at this particular meet. We could not be more proud of these kids!

This was the second virtual meet of the 2020 season. It was a tough one, being only a week apart from their previous meet. The school was in phase 3 at the time when deadlines of student speeches on video were due for this particular meet, so the practices were held online. Practicing online is a challenge in and of itself but, having to record these virtual practices? That is an even bigger challenge for these kids virtually and they handled it amazingly well: the Wagner Oral Interp Students came in ready.

This meet places the top six places. Jenny Barnett came in 5th in Poetry while performing her poems based on love.. Mackenzie Roberts placed 6th in Storytelling with her rendition of Rapunzel. Also, Michelle Soukup came in 5th with her Robert Kennedy Speech. Just shy of the podium was Kallen Kafka coming in 7th place with his piece titled, "Hit and Run," and Kathryn Doom placed 8th with her performance of "The Text of The Drive Home."

It took the efforts of the entire team to earn the 3rd Place Sweepstakes in class A. Also performing for Wagner in Novice Humor were - Jackson Rolston (12th place), Caleb Zephier (13th place) and Trenton Rolston (22nd place). In Novice Drama - Presley Slaba (11th Place). In Novice Duo - Jackson Rolston and Presley Slaba (12th place), Sphynx Foster and Kandra Kreeger (16th place), and Vincent Bechen and Caleb Zephier (19th place). If it weren't for the combined efforts of our entire team, we would not have placed so well at this meet. Congrats to The Wagner Oral Interp Team!
