ORAL INTERP AT HARRISBURG TIGER CONTEST
It was time for another virtual tournament. This time the Wagner Interp team competed in The Harrisburg Tiger Interp Contest. The videos of the students were sent in and then judged by a panel of judges virtually. This tournament also offered the opportunity for the students to watch the other contestant’s videos and talk to the judges if they chose to do so.
This tournament had 13 schools participate with 134 different entries which included 155 competitors. This is a meet where the student’s videos were viewed in 3 different rounds. In each round, the judges placed and ranked the students on their performances.
It is really neat to see that as the season progresses, the Interp kid’s performances become better and better. The students try to record a new video for each tournament they virtually participated in. This shows the great progress that these kids have made. Unlike other Oral Interp years, this year is a bit more challenging in the fact that they kids have to practice as well as record. It tends to make the practices a bit more tedious, especially when they are having to deal with technical diffculties. But, they have done well with accepting and working through these challenges.
Top ranking students were Mackenzie Roberts in Storytelling with “Rapunzel.” Placing in Non-Original Oratory was Michelle Soukup with her Robert Kennedy Speech. In Serious, Kallen Kafka was top ranked with his performance of “Hit and Run.”Also placing in the Serious Category was Kathryn Doom with her version of “The Text on The Drive Home.” The Duet of Caleb Zephier and Vincent Bechen placed with honors in their performance of “Just Cloning Around”
The next competition for Wagner will be in the Yankton Lewis and Clark Meet on Oct. 31.
