OPERATION CHOW LINE COMING TO WAGNER
Community Action for Veterans (CAV) is sponsoring Operation Chow Line, an event addressing food insecurity needs for veterans, service members and their families and caregivers.
The event will be held at Wagner’s American Legion Greer Post #11 on October 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A free meal will be provided to service members, veterans, their families and caregivers. A resource fair will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the meal beginning at 11:00.
Vendors will be available to talk about possible services available to veterans. They include representatives from SD Department of Veterans Affairs, the Vet Center, Health Connect, ROCS, DAV, the Veterans Service Office and more. Anyone wishing to set up a table/booth, please contact Pat Herman at pat.herman@usd.edu.
Grocery cards will be distributed to address food insecurity needs for veterans in our area. The gift card amounts are $50 for a single veteran, $100 for a couple, $150 for a household of 3 and $200 for 4 or more. The grocery cards may be redeemed at the local grocery stores, Buche Foods and Wagner Super Foods. Cards are available only for veterans and their families or caregiver. If the veteran cannot attend personally due to health issues or mobility, a family member or caregiver may attend and request the food card.
This event is possible because of a partnership involving Community Action for Veterans, the University of South Dakota Center for Disabilities, Volunteers of America, the Bob Woodruff Foundation, Disabled American Veterans and Community Action for Veterans.
