Justin Lukkes is the new football coach. But how did he get to where he is today? Mr. Lukkes started playing football in sixth grade up until senior year of high school along with basketball, baseball, golf, swim team, and track. However, out of all the sports he played in high school, football was his favorite. He graduated from Avon High School in 2003 and later went to Mitchell Tech, where he graduated in 2007. After he graduated college, he got a call from Avon School to come back and teach carpentry and welding. Since he played and had such a love of football, he tried his hand at being an assistant coach. He was an assistant coach for 17 years until this year. Mr. Lukkes is currently head coach of the Avon High School football team. To prepare for a game he tries to go over as much as he can the week of the game, starting with the main important things and working his way down. One of Mr. Lukkes favorite parts of coaching is spending time with the kids and watching them learn and improve. His first game coaching the high school was Thursday, August 17th. The Pirates won by a huge gap of forty-two to twelve. Mr. Lukkes was very proud of them and thought they played hard and played well. The big win has him excited for the rest of the season.
