NEW PRIEST IN WAGNER

By
NEW PRIEST IN WAGNER

A warm Wagner welcome to the Rev. James Marrs, Jr., the new Superintending Presbyter of the Yankton-Santee Missions of the Episcopal Diocese of South Dakota. Rev. Marrs is the priest for the congregations of Blessed Redeemer and Our Most Merciful Savior on the Santee Sioux Reservation, Nebraska; St. Philip the Deacon, Lake Andes and Woniya Wakan (Holy Spirit), Wagner on the Yankton Sioux Reservation, South Dakota.

Rev. Marrs graduated from Sewanee: The School of Theology (The University of the South, Sewanee, TN) with a Master of Divinity (MDiv) in May 2018. He previously provided pastoral care on the Cheyenne River Episcopal Mission and the Rosebud Episcopal Mission. He was assigned to the Yankton-Santee Episcopal Missions on January 1, 2021.

Rev. Marrs, Jr. follows in his father’s footsteps, as the senior Rev. Marrs was the priest here on the Yankton Episcopal Mission in the 1970’s. Living with him in the Episcopal rectory in Wagner are his son Domenick, their three dogs, and their three cats.

At this time, Rev. Marrs will be following the same Sunday schedules for each congregation as set forth by the previous Superintending Presbyter, the Rev. Pat White Horse-Carda, who has retired and now lives in Vermillion, SD.

Welcome, Rev. Marrs and Domenick!
