NEW NAME FOR CHARLES MIX REPUBLICAN WOMEN

By

The Charles Mix Republican Women have changed their name to South Central Republican Women. President Trudy Qualm states, “We currently have members from eight counties from this area, so the name Charles Mix Republican Women no longer reflects who we are and the area we focus on.” The official name change application was reviewed and approved by both the National Federation of Republican Women and the South Dakota Federation of Republican Women.

The officers elected to Charles Mix Republican Women will remain the officers of the South Central Republican Women: President Trudy Qualm, Vice President Jackie Olsen, Treasurer Lisa Konechne, Secretary Mona DeGroot and Membership Coordinator Haley Olson. We also have a new position of Chaplin that has been accepted by Faith VanZee. This organization will be focusing on assisting Republican candidates in local, state and federal positions become elected. We will be working on Americanism projects like flag etiquette and honoring our veterans and families. We support conservative values and freedoms such as 2nd Amendment rights and capitalism. Our organization is inviting all Republican women to become members for $40 per year and Republican men, plus women who are members of another Republican Womens organization, to become an Associate Member for $10 per year.

We are kicking off our new name with an event Thursday April 14th at 7 P.M. that all are invited to. You do not need to be a member to attend. We will have guest speakers Rich and Penny Sattgast from Pierre. Penny is the President of the South Dakota Federation of Republican Women plus she has her own biotech consulting business. Rich will be speaking about his and his family’s experiences in the Military. His Grandfather was one of the 345 Monuments Men who volunteered for the dangerous work to track, locate and recover monuments and other cultural treasures from destruction that the Nazi’s had stolen in WW11. Rich will also speak about the time he was stationed at the Berlin Wall and his time at Desert Storm. It will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church 1½ mile north of Platte on Thursday April 14that 7 P.M. Bring your family.

To honor our Veterans and your loved ones that have passed, the South Central Republican Women will be selling potted Memorial Day Flowers of red, white and blue to place at your loved ones grave site. Each 12-inch pot made up by Ymkers Greenhouse will be sold for $30.00. If you live a distance away and would like us to place the flowers at your loved one’s grave for you, we will gladly do that.
